Two groups of farmers from Drenas and Podujeva participated in this visit, having the opportunity to exchange experiences with each other and to closely observe the breeding methods, production capacities, and proper management of two dairy cattle farms, one in the Municipality of Vushtrri and the other in the Municipality of Lipjan.
Among other things, the beneficiaries gained new knowledge such as; the construction of barns based on animal welfare standards, the selection of cow breeds with milk-producing characteristics, farm hygiene rules, as well as the production of bulky dry, fresh, and preserved foods based on quality preservation practices. They also had the opportunity to closely observe the closed milking system for dairy cows, the lactofreeze room with all accompanying equipment, milking and cleaning practices of the milking equipment with the aim of improving milk quality, increasing income, and reducing losses from this activity.
This activity was carried out within the framework of the project "Improving employment and income-generating opportunities in rural areas of Kosovo," funded by the donor BfdW from Germany.
