and water sources, serve as a shelter for pathogens and pests, and thus negatively affect the organic cultivation of MAPs; at the same time, they are carriers and carriers of toxic substances – pollutants of MAPs (Pyrolicidine and Tropan Alkaloid). Therefore, managing weeds through appropriate techniques and machinery helps reduce/eliminate the weed population and keeps them below the level of economic damage.
An important role in the successful management of weeds is played by the #SIRED project, which, through its partners @FiBL, @IADK, and @shoqatës Organika, has organized a field day for training farmers and cultivators of MAPs in Istog. The expert from FiBL, Mr. Nicolas Lefebvre, together with his partners, offered their expertise regarding permitted practices for weed management, while also practically demonstrating the role and importance of the special multifunctional machine (Tilmor) for managing weeds in crop cultivation, particularly in the organic production of MAPs.
The SIRED project, through its partners, will continue to provide support for the development and strengthening of the organic production sector of medicinal and aromatic plants, a sector with potential for Kosovar agriculture.
