With the aim of enhancing practical knowledge, a study visit was organized for beneficiaries of vocational training and grants in the livestock sector. Participants had the opportunity to learn from the experiences of a model farm and exchange best practices in farm management.
The study visit took place at “Ferma Kosova”, located in the village of Lybeniq, Municipality of Peja, owned by Shkëlqim Rrustemaj. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mr. Rrustemaj for his hospitality and for introducing the participating farmers to all aspects of dairy cattle farming.
The visit was met with great interest, providing valuable opportunities for exchanging experiences and gaining practical knowledge that contributes to strengthening farmers’ professional capacities.
Participants gained firsthand insight into farm management, animal care, dairy cow nutrition according to the different stages of lactation, genetic improvement (crossbreeding and breeding techniques), milk hygiene and the sanitation of milking equipment in accordance with established standards, barn maintenance and hygiene, and techniques for improving milk production.
This study visit was organized within the framework of the project “Improving the employment and income generation opportunities in rural areas”, funded by Bread for the World, Germany, and co-financed by partner municipalities.
