After planting strawberries, supplementary fertilization is necessary. At this stage, the most important issue is to provide the plant with sufficient phosphorus, which enables optimal root well and root system development, achieved by using crystallizer (NPK 13:40:13+Micro). Crystallizers are used in amounts of 1 gram per 1 liter of water, which means 1 kilogram per 1000 liters of water.
The preference is that at least two feedings become yellow crystalline within 7 days after planting the seedlings. After rooting, the plant must be provided with sufficient nitrogen for massive leaf development, which enables and guarantees maximum flower development, as well as potassium to prevent lush development and to ensure the plant withstands the high temperatures that are common for this season of the year. This is achieved by using crystalline fertilizers (NPK 20:20:20 + Micro), expressed in amounts similar to the aforementioned fertilizer, crystalline (NPK 13:40:13 + Micro), applied once every 7 days or foliar feeding through leaves (Sal 12 or Albatros Universal, 1 kilogram per 500 liters of water), which achieves faster nutrient absorption. The use of foliar feeding is repeated every 10 days until flowering begins. After broad flowering at harvest, crystallizer (NPK 12:02:42 +Micro) is used. This feed is applied once every 7 days, which, due to its high potassium content, ensures high fruit quality. During the second and third seasons of cultivation, after the start of vegetation in spring, the application described in points 3 and 4 should be repeated, with mandatory calcium supplementation which ensures longer fruit shelf life, sales, and plant resistance to diseases, primarily fruit rot (Botrytis). The mentioned values of crystallizers are just some of the combinations, and their usage amounts are only approximate, based on general data on the soil's chemical properties. However, it should be kept in mind that various combinations of fertilizers are available on the market, many of which can be combined with each other. The main basis for determining the nutritional needs of strawberries should be the chemical analyses of the soil and the plant, as well as the stages of plant development both during the growing season and throughout the plant life cycle.
