Medicinal and aromatic plants (MAP) is one of the key sectors for the development of agriculture in Kosovo. This sector has contributed to increased exports and the creation of new jobs, which is why the organization IADK has been engaged in providing grants to farmers cultivating MAP crops.
Among the farmers benefiting from the grant, a young woman from the village of Runik in the Municipality of Skenderaj, Valerina Ademi, 18 years old, is carrying out good and successful work. The reason she started her work cultivating cyanide was to be economically independent in order to secure income for her education and help generate family income. To ensure the product is of higher quality and the largest quantity, she has sought help with work tools that assist the cultivation process of MAPs (motor cultivator, drying greenhouse, and irrigation system).
IADK has supported the farmer with these work tools, influencing the increase of efficiency and productivity and motivating her to continue cultivating MAP. Out of a total of 1.8 hectares of arable land, she cultivates about 0.30 ha of cyan; from the cultivation of cyanide crops, she is gaining material benefits, as she has started selling the product.
[NT7]] has supported 220 farmers and 39 MAP collection points within the project "Supporting the MAP value chain through job creation and export continuation," supported by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, mandated by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.
