Besnik's initiative was to start cultivating a new crop, different from the ones his family has cultivated so far, since they do not have any benefit that would affect their family economy.
"With great determination, I want to start an initiative to support my family and to show that young farmers can achieve sustainable success in the agricultural sector, but of course, we also need continuous support from family and society to pass on their knowledge from their experience in this sector."
Initially, IADK supported the farmer with the irrigation system and at the same time engaged an expert to provide direct advice on its installation and use, preparing the site and forms for planting seedlings so that the farmer would be ready at the seedling arrival stage. Then the farmer was supplied with blueberry seedlings, and the method of planting and treatment in the first phase after planting was practically demonstrated.
Part of the support also includes direct advice that will be offered to the beneficiary at any stage when the farmer needs assistance.
The activity is part of the project "Supporting Social Entrepreneurship and Promoting Socio-Economic Empowerment in Minority Communities in Kosovo," a project supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), supported by the DRC and implementers IADK.
