During 2022, IADK successfully implemented the project "Empowerment of the value chain of recycling in South Mitrovica" in the Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian neighborhoods. The project itself has had the objective of improving the living standards of the Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian populations in South Mitrovica through the increase of access, in the possibility of generating income within the value chain of waste recycling.
To strengthen the value chain of waste collection-processing within the residential area of the community has invested in the modernization and operationalization of the recycling facility (sliding doors, industrial shelves, object painting, and completely new power installation electric as well as a sink), the support with recycling machinery (recirculation press, air removal machine, scales industrial forklifts, plastic shredders, and small additional equipment for daily operation). Within the framework of the project, the center has also been equipped with computer/scanner, work desk, chair, and shelves for file placement, as well as security cameras. IADK in within the framework of the project, engaged the expert, a technology engineer for harmonizing recycling lines, providing advice on the selection of recyclable waste, the operation and maintenance of equipment, and how and advice for small collectors on waste sorting (plastic, metallic, etc.).
Additionally, IADK has engaged a financial expert to assist the waste recycling center in the Roma Neighborhood regarding financial matters, keeping accounting records, reports for tax authorities, reports related to materials recycling, etc.
This activity was carried out in framework of the project " Strengthening the recycling value chain in South Mitrovica", funded by the Agency for International Development Cooperation – represented by the Embassy of Sweden in Kosovo (Sida) and supported by the Council Danish Refugees (DRC).
