Damage caused to raspberry shoots by the action of frost

Damage caused by frost appears as sporadic awakening of fruiting buds, with interrupted spots of dried tissue, spots in the form of drops on the shoots, etc. Frost damage to the biennial raspberry cultivar can be avoided if the shoots are laid to spread on the soil surface at the end of autumn, so that during the winter period they are covered with a layer of snow, which acts as a good protector against frost. It is not recommended to leave raspberry shoots of the Wilamette or Meeker cultivars to remain vertical or tied to a holder during the winter period.
