Proper drying of medicinal and aromatic plants are sometimes more challenging than their production, Drying is used as the primary method for processing aromatic medicinal plants after production and harvesting.
Considering the importance of drying MAPs, within the framework of the project, IADK has carried out the supply and installation of floor-type thermal dryers with a surface area of drying 40m2, to 25 beneficiaries in 13 different municipalities: Dragash, Ferizaj, Gjilan, Istog, Kaçanik, Leposavić, Mitrovica, Novo Brdo, Podujeva, Prizren, Rahovec, Skenderaj, and Shterpce. The thermal dryers are designed with three rooms-spaces: drying area, thermogenerator, and the space of the boiler and the water reservoir.
These dryers impact environmental preservation, energy savings of up to 70%, where many factors can be controlled exactly. Using these dryers will help beneficiaries in the process and drying time of the MAPs, ensuring product quality according to export standards, and this it can influence the growth of exports of MAP products in EU countries.
