Students of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine practice tree pruning at IADK

15 students of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, together with Assoc. Prof. Vahid Avdiu, Assoc. Prof. Lavdim Lepaja and Assoc. Mergim Zogaj, paid a visit to IADK.
During this visit, they were first introduced by the Executive Director, Mr. Zenel Bunjaku, to the work and activities that IADK carries out in support of farmers with grants and professional development, as well as internship programs for students of the Department of Agriculture and Food Technology.
The visit focused on the practical demonstration of pruning various trees at the IADK demonstration plot. Under the guidance of IADK experts and Assoc. Prof. Vahid Avdiu, the students engaged in the practical process of pruning different types of trees (apple, pear, plum, cherry, raspberry and blueberry).
They were also introduced to some of the strawberry cultivation practices in the strawberry demonstration orchard, then the advanced model of the demonstration greenhouse, including digital greenhouse ventilation control systems, automatic plant irrigation system, controlled through sensors, which adapt depending on the plants' requirements for soil moisture.
Such activities are examples of efforts to train students in practice and increase cooperation between academic institutions and professional organizations.
