IADK organizes training for medicinal and aromatic plants

Within the framework of the project for medicinal and aromatic plants, training is being supported that improves the cultivation of MAPs. Participants in these trainings have included small farmers, collection points, and exporters interested in gaining knowledge about seedling material production, soil preparation for MAPs, and the cultivation of annual and perennial MAPs. IADK has engaged expert Muzafer Luma as a trainer.

Field visits were also organized to the beneficiary farmers, during which the beneficiaries had the opportunity to observe the cultivation methods of medicinal plants such as: black mallow, blue thyme, calendula, sunflower, thorn, organic leek, white mallow, white oregano, mint, nettle, lavender, fennel, and chamomile.

At the end of the training and field visit, participants and collection points expressed their willingness to start soil preparation and cultivation of MAPs in harmony with the required conditions for organic production, such as:

Seed production should be done organically, [priority is given to genetically pure varieties]
Select varieties that are adapted to the specific local and regional conditions
In the absence of substrate, it should be replaced with organic components
Important for soil preparation is the creation of a normal water, air, and nutrient regime, which improves its physical qualities and accumulates maximum amounts of moisture.
