Analyzing the constraints and opportunities within the agricultural sector facilitates the development of a tailored project intervention aimed at promoting successful agricultural development
Since October 2023, the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has tasked IADK with undertaking a comprehensive economic analysis of agriculture in the Mitrovica and Pristina region. This includes identifying dominant value chains and market systems in which target communities operate, with the objective of formulating specific recommendations to strengthen these value chains. Meetings have been held with representatives from 15 municipalities in the designated regions, and interviews have been conducted with 95 stakeholders, mainly including farmers, collection and processing centers, associations, and input suppliers. The objective was to assess challenges and identify opportunities for sector development benefiting rural communities, focusing on gender and the inclusion of various ethnic groups engaged in agriculture. In conclusion, four focus groups with 44 stakeholders from Vushtrri, Skenderaj, Lipjan, Podujeva, Gračanica, Novobërda, Leposaviq, and Zubin Potok were held. These focus groups offered a method to gather detailed knowledge from participants' experiences, beliefs, perceptions, and personal attitudes through structured and moderated interactions. Data collected from meetings, interviews, and focus groups will help partners formulate an intervention approach aimed at promoting sustainable and positive changes in the participation of marginalized and poor groups in the market. This project is implemented by IADK, supported by the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), and funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), represented by the Swedish Embassy in Kosovo.
