Analysing the constraints and opportunities within the agricultural sector facilitates the development of a tailored project intervention aimed at fostering successful agricultural development
Since October 2023, the Danish Refugee Council has commissioned IADK to undertake a comprehensive economic analysis of the agriculture in the Mitrovicë/a and Prishtinë/Priština regions. This involves identifying the predominant value chains and market systems in which the target communities operate, with the objective of formulating specific recommendations to strengthen these value chains.Meetings were held with representatives from 15 municipalities in the designated regions, and interviews were conducted with 95 stakeholders, predominantly including farmers, collection and processing centres, associations, and input suppliers. The objective was to evaluate challenges and identify opportunities for sector development to benefit rural communities, with a focus on gender and inclusivity of different ethnic groups, engaged in agriculture. In conclusion, four Focus Group Discussions were held with 44 stakeholders from Vushtrri/Vučitrn, Skënderaj/Srbica, Lipjan/Ljiplan, Podujevë/Podujevo, Graqanicë/Gračanica, Novobërdë/Novo Brdo, Leposaviq/Leposavić, and Zubin Potok. These FGDs provided a method to gather detailed insights from participants' personal experiences, beliefs, perceptions, and attitudes through structured and moderated interactions.Data collected from meetings, interviews, and FGDs will assist partners in formulating an intervention approach aimed at promoting lasting and positive changes in the participation of marginalized and poor groups in the market. This project is implemented by IADK, supported by the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), and financed by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), represented by the Embassy of Sweden in Pristina
