The municipality of Peja is very developed in terms of the tourism sector; therefore many citizens are focused on the development of tourism activities as a primary activity. In this municipality prevail villas and traditional katuns are not very common. However, there are still farmers who migrate along with their livestock to the mountains and have a noticeable lack of electricity supply. Practicing this tradition becomes very attractive especially for foreign tourists who are curious about these unique customs of our country.

Therefore, the potential for mountain tourism development in these areas is high, and Initiative for Agricultural Development of Kosovo (IADK) in order to include transhumance in Kosovo's tourism offer, will address the lack of electricity by supplying traditional katuns with solar systems. This is done within the project "Transhumance - new tourism offer of Kosovo and Montenegro", a two-year project (2020-2022), funded by the European Union through the IPA II program of cross-border cooperation between Montenegro and Kosovo .

The project will include the municipalities of Istog and Peja, and aims to improve the basic conditions for providing services to tourists.

In the framework of this activity, in the municipality of Peja, a total of 40 candidates have applied. Based on the criteria set out in the project, 15 candidates have been selected for the supply of solar systems, 6 of which are high capacity and 9 low capacity.
